Napoli vs Lecce Player Ratings - Tue, Oct 28 | Vanja Milinković-Savić (GK) – 7.5, Noa Lang – 7.1, Lorenzo Lucca – 6.7, Matteo Politano – 6.9, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 7.8, Billy Gilmour – 7.5, Eljif Elmas– 6.9

Napoli left Lecce with three points after a tight, scrappy contest at the Via del Mare. The only goal came from Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in the 69th minute, but the real turning point was Vanja Milinković-Savić’s penalty save from Lecce youngster Francesco Camarda earlier in the second half. Napoli controlled more of the ball and probed patiently; Lecce had their moment but could not take it.
First half was measured. Napoli had the ball more, moved it around without really ripping the match open. Lecce defended well in numbers and looked to spring Camarda and Banda on the break. Neither side created a clear, big chance before the break.
Early in the second half Lecce were handed a huge opening, Juan Jesus was penalised for a handball in the box after a VAR check, and 17-year-old Francesco Camarda stepped up.
Milinković-Savić guessed right and produced a big save to keep the game level. That stop changed the feel: Lecce visibly lost a lift while Napoli smelled opening.
Napoli kept probing from set pieces and in the 69th minute Anguissa rose to glance a free-kick header into the corner, the breakthrough Napoli wanted. After the goal, Lecce pushed, but Napoli defended the lead and used control of the ball to run the clock down.
Wladimiro Falcone — 6.4/10
Falcone had a steady performance between the sticks and kept Lecce alive in the first half. Napoli dominated possession and had a few half chances, but Falcone stayed alert, positioning himself well for shots from range by Elmas and Politano.
His most important contribution came when he reacted sharply to push away a low cross that could’ve turned into an easy tap-in for Lucca. On the goal, there wasn’t much he could do, Anguissa’s header was close-range and well-placed into the corner after a looping free-kick delivery.
Danilo Veiga– 6.2
Danilo had a challenging evening against the Napoli wide attack. He worked hard to track the runs of Noa Lang and Matteo Politano but was often left deeper as Napoli kept possession.
He made a couple of recoveries and helped block crosses, but his forward contribution was limited and Lecce’s transitions via his flank didn’t significantly threaten. On balance, usable but not influential.
Kialonda Gaspar – 6.8
Gaspar held his position well at right-centre defence. He dealt with Napoli’s crosses and made a couple of important clearances. One highlight: earlier in the match he headed away a dangerous Olivera attempt . Gaspar didn’t offer much going forward but was steady.
Tiago Gabriel – 7.6
Gabriel was one of Lecce’s stronger performers. He made some key blocks, helped defend set-pieces and had one moment where he came close at the other end (a header chance early) during Lecce’s limited attacking phases.
Against a strong Napoli attack he showed discipline and contributed defensively more than conceptually going forward.
Antonino Gallo – 6.9
Playing the left full-back role, Gallo had a busy night. He was required to shift across when Lecce committed forward and to track Napoli’s wide men.
He put in a few good tackles and patched up gaps when Lecce were exposed. However, his offensive support lacked end product: when Lecce did press he didn’t deliver a dangerous final ball. Solid but unspectacular.
Lassana Coulibaly – 6.5
In the holding midfield slot, Coulibaly’s job was to shield the back four and break up play. He did that reasonably, making some interventions, but he was often drawn out of position when Napoli forced play wide or transitioned quickly. Lecce struggled to establish their own rhythm in possession (they had only ~41% possession) . So while his effort was there, his influence was modest.
Ylber Ramadani – 6.7
Ramadani’s performance was more encouraging. He helped Lecce regain some second-balls although he was card. When Lecce countered (especially through Camarda/Banda) Ramadani was part of directing those transitions.
He didn’t create big chances, but in a game where Lecce were under defensive pressure much of the time, his energy stood out.
Medon Berisha – 7.3
Although the midfield three were mostly on the back foot, Berisha offered some glimpses when Lecce had the ball. One moment of note: he drove forward from midfield and released Banda in one break (though it didn’t lead to a shot). His creative end was limited, but in a tough game, he did his share.
Santiago Pierotti – 6.3
On the left wing, Pierotti tried to stretch Napoli’s right side and he did manage to win some corners and push his mark back occasionally.
Still, his decision-making under pressure lacked polish: when he got space he sometimes slowed his pass or lost possession. Lecce offered flashes of attack, but in this match they never fully took off.
Francesco Camarda – 6.0
Camarda was the most prominent attacker for Lecce in this game. At just 17 he stepped up to take a penalty in the second half after a handball by Juan Jesus.
Unfortunately his penalty was saved by Milinković-Savić, which proved a huge moment in the match. The fact that he won the penalty and took it shows his courage and influence in this match. The miss will hurt, but his overall involvement counts for more in context. If he had scored, game might have swung differently.
Lameck Banda – 6.7
He made a couple of incisive runs and one shot that forced a decent save early on. But he lacked a clear chance and Napoli gradually restricted him. He ended the match with effort and desire, as Lecce needed break-outs and he tried to provide them.
Morente - 6.5– Came on for Pierotti at the start of the second half (46’). He brought more pace and energy down the right flank, helping Lecce stretch Napoli’s defense.
Ndri - 6.3 – Replaced Banda in the 65th minute after the winger ran out of steam from constant runs. Ndri tried to create a spark with his dribbling but had little end product.
Stulic 6.5 – Entered in the 70th minute for Camarda to add a bit more strength upfront. He held the ball up well but found little space against Napoli’s tight defense.
Pierret 6.8 – Substituted in the 77th minute for Berisha to help Lecce regain control in midfield.
Maleh 6.7 – Came on alongside Pierret in the 77th minute, replacing Coulibaly. He couldn’t make a big impact as Napoli kept most of the possession late on.
Di Francesco (6/10):
Set his team up well in the first half, keeping Napoli quiet for long spells. However, Lecce lost control once Napoli’s pace increased after the break. His substitutions added energy but couldn’t change the outcome.
Vanja Milinković-Savić (GK) – 7.5
Made the key intervention: saved the penalty from Camarda after the handball by Juan Jesus. That stop kept Napoli level and changed the tone of the game.
Mathías Olivera – 6.9
Active on the left side, won a free-kick in the defensive half early on.
Supported forward movement, pressured Lecce’s counters and was disciplined defensively.
Alessandro Buongiorno – 6.9
Held the back-line together, dealt with aerial balls and kept his shape when Lecce pressed. No major errors reported, steady presence.
Juan Jesus – 6.9
Solid for much of the match but crucial mistake: his handball led to Lecce’s penalty chance.
Recovered well after, but that lapse hurt his rating.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 7.0
Provided width, defended well, contributed to Napoli’s control of play. Helped shut down Lecce’s attacks down his flank.
Eljif Elmas– 6.9
Took one big chance: blasted wide from an advantageous position.
Billy Gilmour – 7.5
Dictated parts of Napoli’s tempo, attempted a shot that was deflected.
Maintained possession, helped transition from defence to attack.
Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa – 7.8
The match-winner: scored the only goal (header from a free kick) in the 69th minute.
Also did his defensive midfield job well: broke up play and made late runs into the box.
Noa Lang – 7.1
Started with energy, but picked up a knock and had to leave early in the second half.
Caused threats with his pace and movement before his injury.
Lorenzo Lucca – 6.7
Led the attack, held up the ball, made runs into space. Not many clear chances but he worked hard to draw defenders and open space.
Matteo Politano – 6.9
In and out of the game: had one chance that was blocked after Lucca held up play.
Neres 6.8 – Came on in the 48th minute for Politano and immediately made an impact with his sharp runs down the right wing. He provided an assist shortly after coming on.
Spinazzola 6.7 – Replaced Olivera in the 61st minute to give Napoli more attacking width on the left side.
McTominay 6.2 – Entered in the 61st minute for Gilmour to bring more strength and defensive balance in midfield.
Højlund 6.2 – Substituted for Lucca in the 61st minute and offered fresh energy in attack. His movement troubled Lecce’s backline, and he linked up well with Neres and Lang.
Gutiérrez 6.9 – Came on in the 85th minute for Elmas to add fresh legs in midfield. Though he had limited time, but still played well.
Antonio Conte (8/10):
A strong tactical display from the Italian. His second-half adjustments, especially introducing Neres, completely shifted the game’s momentum.
